Card games have been popular games in history; the origins of many card games go far back in ancient times. Card games such as poker, blackjack or baccarat are really popular in casinos nowadays. The history of blackjack still has some big gaps, but specialists have come to the conclusion that blackjack has his roots in a
French game called Vingt-Un, which means 21 in English. This game was played in France around 1700.
The rules of blackjack are pretty simple. The game is played with a deck of 52 cards, but nowadays casinos use two ore more mixed packs. Players use chips for placing their bets. Blackjack is a game played against a dealer. He is the one that shuffles the cards before the beginning of the game, the players then has to cut the cards so the game can begin. The object of blackjack is to make a hand with a total of 21 points or as close to 21 as possible and beat the dealer. Baccarat is probably the oldest game played today in casinos. It is believed that baccarat has its roots in a game called Punto Banco, played around 1500 in France. Baccarat is a simple card game, played with a single pack of cards. The player's objective when playing baccarat is to predict before the cards are dealt, which hand ( his hand or the dealer's) will have a value of nine or as close to nine as possible.
In land based casinos, the baccarat table is usually situated in a remote place, called a baccarat pit. The game table of baccarat is very easy to recognize. It is really large and has seating for up to 12 players.
